One of the best ways to get to know a country or region is by participating in the organised events and festivals.  Whilst there are numerous local fetes, fairs and performances throughout the year, the region also plays host to a large number of annual events that should not be missed.


Cognac Blues Passion

An international music festival that takes over the town of Cognac for 5 days in early July.  With numerous music venues - some ticketed and other free- across the town attracting international well know artists, come join the party!  



Violons sur le Sable

Hugely popular, this series of classical concerts are set on the beach at Royan in mid July.  Pay to sit in the stands or take a seat or blanket and join the crowds on the sand for free.  Each of the 3 evenings have a different programme of music and a variety of soloists.  The evening ends with a firework finale choreographed to the music



Confolens Dance Festival

A street festival in mid August that takes over the town of Confolens, bringing together dance troops and musicians from around the world to perform in a series of shows and parades.



Circuit des Remparts

First held in 1939 this is the classic car road race event in Europe.  On the Sunday the old cars race through the streets of Angouleme to cross the start and finish line in front of the cathedral.  In addition to the race there is a 200 kms tour of the countryside, an evening gala event and throughout theweekend classic cars can be viewed across the town.  Held every September.



Festival du Cerf-volant

An Annual 3 day kite festival over the Easter period on the beach at Chatelaillon sur plage. Kite flying, kite surfing, kite fighting, kite building, kite dancing; in fact everything and anything kite related!  Browse the stalls, learn the skills or simply watch the demonstrations.
